Wat Arun is a landmark temple on the Chao Phraya River. Wat Arun has a nickname - the 'Temple of Dawn' because of its colourfully decorated spires and stands majestically over the water. The imposing spire rises over 70 metres high. During the reign of Rama III, the temple was beautifully decorated with tiny pieces of coloured glass and Chinese porcelain.
